Territories of mediation

Regardless of where we live, we all know of an art centre near us, whether it’s a municipal cultural centre or a national museum. But do we really pay attention to the graphic design that brings it to life? Or even to the events that take place there? Of course, it’s easier to talk about museums located in major cities like Paris. But what about those that remain in the shadows, overshadowed by these major institutions, drowned out by the flood of cultural heritage tourism? Taking an interest in their relationship with graphic design allows us to examine this tool of mediation, the venues themselves, and the initiatives that are gradually developing there. This research therefore questions the following issues: to what extent do French contemporary art centres promote territorial and social renewal? And how do graphic designers contribute to this?
